Our market expertise guides clients through the potential hazards of the rapidly changing renewable energy market. Think Energy develops the most cost-effective, feasible solutions by hiring the best talent in the renewable energy market, tracking technology trends, monitoring performance of suppliers and vendors, and tracking available renewable energy and efficiency incentives to reduce costs to customers. Think Energy is a one-stop clean energy firm that can manage relationships with vendors, from creating an RFP, to assessing the responses, advising on vendor selection, negotiating contracts, and monitoring project progress, all leading to a streamlined, cost-effective purchase or investment.

Biographies

Mr. Mark Crowdis
Founder and Chief Executive Officer

Mr. Crowdis manages all Think Energy operations and supports all contracts. He founded Think Energy, Inc. in 2000 and has supported the sales, marketing, and implementation of new renewable energy and distributed generation products and projects, and the design of renewable energy markets. He has aided clients in acquiring the most cost-effective renewable energy products and systems for both private sector and governmental entities and has extensive knowledge in the sales, marketing and acquisition of renewable energy large energy users. Mr. Crowdis has assessed retail and wholesale electricity markets for Fortune 500 companies, served as a technical expert to 35 Fortune 500 companies, and advised numerous electric companies on the sales and marketing of renewable energy products. Mr. Crowdis has extensive experience providing teaching, facilitation, consensus building, market planning, market analysis, renewable energy technologies and distributed generation system assessments and acquisitions, wholesale energy market analysis, retail energy market analysis, green energy sales and marketing, energy efficiency financial assessments, project management and team building services. Mr. Crowdis holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of California at Davis and a Master of Science in Environmental Science from John Hopkins University.

Dr. David Bernell, Ph.D.
Vice President

Dr. Bernell supports all of Think Energy's activities, including program design and implementation; development of sales, outreach and educational presentations; and writing and reviewing project proposals, press releases, brochures, memos, and letters. Dr. Bernell has worked on customer aggregation programs in New England, bringing groups of larger energy users together in Massachusetts, Connecticut and Rhode Island to purchase renewable energy systems and products. In addition, he has worked on projects to purchase renewables and develop sales of renewables for numerous other clients including Toyota, The World Bank, AeroVironment, Shell Solar, the Los Angeles Unified School District, the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, and PPM Energy. In addition, Dr. Bernell is an assistant professor of Political Science at Oregon State University, and an affiliate of the university's Institute for Natural Resources. Dr. Bernell has also worked in the fields of energy and natural resources for more than eight years, serving in the federal government, the private sector, and higher education. His experience involves renewable energy product purchasing, marketing, sales, and design; and energy and natural resource policy analysis. Previously, he worked for the federal government at the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) in the division of Natural Resources, Energy and Science. At OMB he worked with the executive branch, Congress, and various interest groups on developing the budget for solar and renewable power, climate change, energy efficiency, and many other energy programs. Dr. Bernell has a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a secondary education teaching certification from the University of New Mexico. He also holds a Master of Arts and a Ph.D. in Political Science from John Hopkins University.

Ms. Helen Tocco, LEED AP
Director of On-site Generation and Green Building

Ms. Tocco leads all Think Energy projects associated with on-site generation, renewable energy technologies, sustainability, and green building, including projects with the New England Renewable Energy Purchasers, AeroVironment, Inc., the City of Cambridge, Global Green USA, and the Los Angeles Unified School District. Prior to her work with Think Energy, Ms. Tocco provided programmatic support for GreenHOME, Inc., a non-profit dedicated to making sustainable housing available to low-income families. Ms. Tocco is also a US Green Building Council Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Accredited Professional. Ms. Tocco earned Bachelor of Science degrees in Architecture and Civil Engineering at the Catholic University of America.

Ms. Allison Buttel
Energy Market Analyst

Ms. Buttel is responsible for managing work with several clients, including a nation-wide project with Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc. Ms. Buttel leads Think Energy's work in grid-delivered green power products as well as deregulated electricity and natural gas purchasing. Ms. Buttel is part of the Investment Services team, and also contributes to business development for Think Energy. Finally, Ms. Buttel is responsible for leading Think Energy's financial modeling work, which includes developing tailored models that address each client's unique situation. Ms. Buttel holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Economics and Management with a concentration in Environmental and Resource Economics from Cornell University.

Ms. Rebecca Eaton
Director of Special Projects

Ms. Eaton manages new initiatives, projects, and cross-functional teams; increases marketing presence and sales revenue; and streamlines business operations for Think Energy. Ms. Eaton brings with her over twenty years of professional experience in manufacturing engineering, developing private sector programs at non-profit organizations, and real estate sales, working for General Electric Company and World Wildlife Fund, among others. She has acquired skills in staff and project management, outreach, marketing, sales, program development, negotiation, and fundraising. Ms. Eaton holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Michigan State University and a Master of Environmental Management and Policy from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

Ms. Elyse Rhodin
Renewable Energy Research Specialist

Ms. Rhodin assists Think Energy with technology analysis, marketing, writing, and research activities. Her recent work includes researching and analyzing fuel cells and small wind turbines, investigating net metering, interconnection, and permitting in New Orleans, and assessing energy monitoring systems. Ms. Rhodin graduated Suma Cum Laude with honors while earning a Bachelor of Science in Physics from Dickinson College. She also holds a Master of Science in Astronomy from the University of Maryland.

Mr. Owen Comstock
Renewable Energy Engineering Specialist

Mr. Comstock brings an engineering background to Think Energy and currently works with on-site generation and renewable energy technologies. His responsibilities include conducting feasibility studies for specific sites, analyzing incubating technologies, and researching financial components of proposed renewable energy systems. Mr. Comstock holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Tennessee and has obtained Engineer-in-Training certification.

Ms. Sudha Gollapudi
Energy Market Analyst

As part of the Think Energy team, Ms. Gollapudi is involved with new clean energy investment opportunities. Previously, Ms. Gollapudi held positions at North Carolina's State Energy Office and Duke University's Home Depot Smart Home, gaining valuable experience in the energy and green building sector. In addition, she also brings knowledge and experience from the banking sector, having managed four different compliance and infrastructure organization projects for a leading investment bank. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Environmental Studies from Bates College and a Masters of Environmental Management degree from Duke University. While at Duke, Ms. Gollapudi also completed a Certificate in Energy & the Environment and a Certificate in International Development.

Ms. Kiah Drue
Renewable Energy Research Assistant

Ms. Drue manages the administrative needs of the company while providing research for a wide variety of renewable energy marketing and business development projects. She brings experience in general management, meeting and event planning, marketing, and communications to Think Energy. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with high honors in Hospitality Business from Michigan State University.
